NYU “Miles for Smiles” raises $13,200 for KAFK

As part of last week’s NCAA’s Division III Week, New York University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted Miles For Smiles, an event aimed at raising money to help support Kids Action for Kids. Student athletes from 20 NYU sports teams came together to make this event happen, raising an astonishing $13,200. The funds raised will now be matched by KAFK’s financial partners for a grand total of $26,400, 100% of which will go to fund 33 surgeries for children born with cleft lip and cleft palate in Southeast Asia. Additionally, the event has brought the NYU athletic community together to do over 90 miles of sled pushing.

SAAC named the initiative “Miles for Smiles”, as NYU’s student-athletes and staff decided to come together and “go the extra mile”. The idea behind the fundraiser was this: for each smile funded, a weighted sled would be pushed for one mile at NYU’s Varsity Performance Center (VPC). Well done NYU!
